Volunteer - Change a life

Your Service Counts

“The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38)

Volunteering at CYC Waihola invites you to play a vital part in supporting children and young people to know and love Christ. Whether you’re new or experienced, we are always looking for more volunteers to share in this wonderful ministry!

Many Ways to Serve

We welcome volunteers as cooks, cabin leaders, directors, speakers, camp parents or grandparents. There are many ways you can serve and support our camp community.

Cabin Leader - First Time

Aged 16 or older? Join another cabin leader to guide your group through activities, evening routines, and daily faith discussions.

Camp Parent

Someone who has experience with children and an ability to support campers throughout the week, helping everyone feel included and cared for.

Camp Nurse

Ideally trained in first aid. Assists with administering medication under guidance by CYC Staff, provides basic care, and supports daily camp activities. This role can double as a camp parent/grandparent!

Camp Director

Plans camp activities, coordinates with staff to find leaders and volunteers, leads the volunteer team, and reports to the camp staff. A camp director will need to be organised and passionate, and ready to be in charge for the week! We will guide you along the way, can provide you with a camp programme, and give you all the support you need to direct an awesome camp.

Paperwork

To volunteer with us, please complete our Ministry Staff Application, which includes a Police Vetting Form. Make sure you have your ID ready when you complete it.

This process must be finished at least 6 weeks before camp, as we need your police vet check to be approved before you attend, and the Police take approx. 6 weeks to return these.

This will be valid for 3 years, after which we will need to refresh your details and police vet you again.

We will provide training for your role, whether as a cabin leader/camp parent, cook, or director.

You can get started now by accessing the relevant training materials through the role buttons below.

Returning volunteer with expired paperwork

Below you will find a details refresher and a new police vetting form. The Police Vetting Form needs to be completed at least 6 weeks before camp begins and will be valid for 3 years.

Reporting and feedback forms

We want to hear from you. Please feel free to complete an incident form, a behavioural report, a safety concern, or send some feedback our way - we want camp to be an amazing place for every camper and leader.
